Mono and Polycrystalline Solar Panels
Polycrystalline solar panels are recognisable for their distinct dark blue/purple solar cells. The cells in polycrystalline panels are comprised of multiple silicon ingots, this gives rise to the “poly” in the name.
Cell efficiency is traditionally lower in polycystalline solar panels when compared against their monocrystalline counterparts resulting in slightly lower panel wattages. Polycrystalline panels are in turn traditionally more cost effective and have a larger market share than monocrystalline panels.
Standard warranties for our polycrystalline range are 10-12 year manufacturer’s warranty and 25 year performance output guarantee.
We offer polycrystalline solar panels from each of our supplied manufacturers with current sizes as follows:

Monocrystalline solar panels are known for their distinctive black solar cells. The cells in monocrystalline panels are produced from a single silicon ingot as opposed to the multiple ingots of polycrystalline panels. This gives the monocrystalline solar cells a more uniform aesthetic.
Monocrystalline solar cells are typically more efficient when compared to polycrystalline cells meaning that higher output are acheivable for similarly dimensioned solar panels.
Standard warranties for our monocrystalline range are 10-12 year manufacturer’s warranty and 25 year performance output guarantee.

In practice there is generally no major advantage for each type of panel. For especially space constrained roofs monocrystalline panels will be able to produce slighty more energy over polycrystalline solar panels. Some also prefer the aesthetic of one or the other. What is most important is that the panel chosen comes from a reputable manufacturer with strong local technical and warranty support. We have selected reputable manufacturers with excellent track records in Australia and so you can be confident in the solar panels you buy from us.
